Johnson aiming for 'the perfect week'

Lee Johnson could lead City to their third-consecutive win, when they host Stoke City tomorrow (October 27th, 3pm).

Late goals against Brentford and Hull City have helped the Robins rise up the Sky Bet Championship table.

Now they prepare for their third game in a week, as newly relegated Stoke City head south to BS3, with aim very much on putting together an unbeaten run of matches.

“Back-to-back wins will naturally give the boys confidence which is great,” Johnson said.

“We’ll be buoyed by a 22-odd thousand strong crowd and we’re really looking forward to that.

“We’re looking to get a win in this game and finish off the perfect week.”

“This young squad is progressing excellently,” the head coach added. “A lot of hard work on the training ground is coming to fruition. Our defensive capabilities have been good but we can add more sparkle in the final and I believe that will come.

“[We have] a lot of new players and the more they get to play with each other the more they will understand each other’s games but, in the meantime, we’re keeping clean sheets and that’s a positive sign moving forward.”

Johnson has now called for a “big effort” for tomorrow’s fixture against the former Premier League side, who are now under the management of Gary Rowett.

“We know Stoke City have a big side coming down from the Premier League, with the players they have added, but it’s one we are relishing, one we are looking forward to,” Johnson said.

“I think this football club is suited to games like this, particularly with the atmosphere which our fans can create. If they can be our twelfth man then that will be very important considering it is our third game this week.

“They are a good side with excellent individuals but so do we and we will take the game to them, which is important being at home. Off the back of two wins we are relishing every moment.”
