Job Vacancy: Add Mentor Programme Lead

We have an exciting opportunity to work for Bristol City Robins Foundation as our ADD MENTOR programme lead.

ADD Mentor is a targeted mentor programme aimed at the hardest to reach young people based in Hartcliffe and Knowle West. The project will see trusting relationships built between known young people in the community, partnered with professional mentors who can relate to the young people and help guild them into positive provision or employment. The focus will be on the number of positive hours these young people can spend with their mentors and away from negative influences in their lives. 

Your main responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver our ADD Mentor programme. 
  • This includes the delivery of small, targeted group work and work supporting referred individuals through 1-2-1 caseload working.
  • 1-2-1 mentoring of targeted young people involved in drug related crime in areas of deprivation.
  • Working with our partners, develop links between mainstream education and alternative provision through mentoring and other provision.
  • To evidence the impact of the 1-2-1 work and mentoring to ensure it is sustainable and continues to change the lives of young people who we work with.
  • To develop our future mentor strategy and ensure we meet the needs of young people in South Bristol now, and in the long term.
  • To develop the programme to use early intervention where possible and to provide long-term opportunities and pathways, working with clear evidence of need and agreed success criteria. 

You will have:

  • An understanding of the issues faced by young people, specifically in relation to drugs, gangs and crime
  • Experience in working with targeted groups or individuals in areas of deprivation, through building positive relationships and mentoring
  • Proven project management experience 

  • People management experience, in particular management of a multi-disciplined team in a youth work environment

  • Experience and/or knowledge of Secondary /Higher education

  • A proven track record of managing relationships and partnerships, and the ability to communicate with people at various levels 

  • An understanding of safeguarding and health and safety in a youth work setting.
  • A proven ability to work to under pressure to tight deadlines 

  • A commitment to supporting young people, and the principles of equality and diversity 

  • Self-motivated and the ability to work on own initiative 

  • Excellent communication skills including written, telephone and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven planning and organisation skills
  • IT literate

We will give you:

  • A holiday allowance of 25 days 
  • Generous pension scheme
  • Generous continuous personal development budget 
  • Salary: £29,000 - £33,000

This position is full time (37.5 hours per week) from October 2021. Candidates must be willing to work evenings and weekends. The successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
