✍️ Jhamat is a Robin

City Women can confirm the signing of Simran Jhamat as the club’s third summer addition.

Jhamat lands in the West Country to bolster Lauren Smith’s options in the final third as the Robins set their sights on the 2021/22 FA Championship season.

Speaking on her arrival the 20-year-old said: “Bristol City is a great club with a rich history in the women’s game – I’m excited for the next challenge in my career.

“I’ve spoken at length with the manager about the plans for the club, the move to the new home stadium and how I can contribute on the pitch this season, and that’s what made my decision for me.

“Pre-season is going to be tough as we prepare for an incredibly competitive Championship season but it’s a challenge that I’m ready to embrace.”

The winger from Walsall began her journey at local side Sporting Khalsa as a junior before being invited to attend the Aston Villa Centre of Excellence, where she developed for seven years prior to a move to Liverpool in 2017.

Jhamat was handed her top flight bow for the Reds in 2019, before moving to Leicester City and Coventry United in the seasons following. She arrives at City after spending the 2020/21 campaign at fellow Championship outfit Lewes FC.

The 20-year-old has also earned international recognition throughout her young career with the Young Lionesses and she became the first Punjabi girl to score at a competitive level for England, as an Under-17 when she found the back of the net in a 6-0 demolition of Slovakia.

Jhamat will link up with former England youth teammate Ava Kuyken, who signed with the Robins early last week.

Bristol City Women supporters can get their hands on a 20211/22 Season Card now with adults paying the equivalent to less than £4 a game, with under-12s being able to watch for less than £1 a game.
