New Bristol City Women signing Carla Humphrey says it feels like she has been at the club for some time, after settling in well to life with the Vixens.
Humphrey, 20, joined from Arsenal in the summer and joined the Vixens in search of more game time. An admirer of the style of play that City Women employ, Humphrey insists it was an easy decision to head south.
Originating from Cambridge, the England age-grade player has international ambitions and hopes this season will be a springboard for fulfilling those aspirations.
Speaking for the first time to the club, the pacey winger is excited to show what she can bring to the Vixens in the coming months.
She said: “I’ve really enjoyed it so far, it was really good to get in and meet the girls and I get on with them all so well already. Training is going well and it is really good to be back in the swing of things now.
“At my age I think game time and experience is crucial for my development, I really admired the way the team played during the Spring Series and after talking to some of the girls I realised this is an environment I can really flourish and become a better player.
“One of my ambitions is to make the England senior side, hopefully coming here and playing regularly will develop me and give me that experience to make the step up to that level.
“I pride myself on my ability to create goals and combine with my team mates to create chances for the team and I am looking forward to doing that for City Women this season.”
Humphrey added that she was impressed with the Vixens supporters during the Spring Series, and hopes to see them out in force again come September: “When I played here in the Spring Series I was really impressed with the numbers in the crowd here and the noise they made.
“I really hope the fans come in numbers again this season because as players we appreciate it so much and it really boosts us on the pitch.”
