It's What I Play Football For - Taylor

Matty Taylor is relishing the prospect of playing in front of the biggest crowd of his fledgling Sky Bet Championship career at the Amex Stadium tomorrow (5.30pm).

Having made the step up from Bristol Rovers in January, the striker has made six of his 13 City appearances in front of 20,000-plus attendances – twice at Ashton Gate.

But after trips to Derby County, Leeds United and Aston Villa attracted high numbers, league leaders Brighton are set to eclipse those figures in their bid to land the Championship title at City’s expense.

“I’ve never played there, but I imagine it’ll be a sell-out and I’m really looking forward to it,” Taylor told Bristol City Player HD.

“It’s what I play football for. I’ve always wanted to play in these big stadiums as often as possible and it’s normally every other week in this league, which is great. I’m loving it.”

The former non-league marksman has started City’s last four games, helping the team pick up ten points along the way.

“I’ve been enjoying my football lately and it’s coincided with some good results,” he added.

“We seem to have got the right balance at the moment. Everyone is working hard for each other and we’ve found a winning formula.

“I’ve got a few extra defensive responsibilities that the gaffer has asked me to do and I’m happy to do that.

“I would love a goal or two but when we’re winning games and I feel like I’m contributing well to the team, I’m happy anyway.”

City supporters are reminded the fixture is all-ticket with sales ending at 2pm today (Friday). Call 0117 963 0600 or buy online.
