‘It’s a great environment at City’ - Palmer

Man of the match Kasey Palmer was quick to share the praise after City booked their place in the Emirates FA Cup Fifth Round.

Palmer started his first game for City following an impressive goal-scoring debut off the bench against the same opponents two weeks ago and then providing the through-ball for Andi Weimann to assist Famara Diedhiou in the 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest.

The 22-year-old loanee from Chelsea cut through the Wanderers’ midfield and also hit the post with a 70th -minute free-kick.

“Everyone is buzzing and more importantly it keeps our unbeaten run going. We have just got to keep going, performing well and getting good results,” said Palmer.

“I was disappointed not to score to be fair. I had a few chances, but the team won and we are through to the next round of the Cup. As soon as I hit the free-kick I thought it was in but it hit the post and bounced out so I was a bit gutted - sometimes that’s how it goes.”

Less than three weeks into his loan spell Palmer has his own fans’ song and is enjoying life in BS3, reflecting: “Everyone believes in the team and the manager and it’s a good environment.  We have just got to keep on performing and hopefully we can get another win next week.

"The ground was bouncing today and it wasn’t even full so next week (against Swansea at Ashton Gate ) will be a great atmosphere and that drives the lads on when the crowd are signing.”
