Dan Bentley says the squad has changed its mindset to achieve better results.
City have started the 2021/22 well with positive performances and have recently seen an upturn in results.
Nigel Pearson’s side are four unbeaten as they prepare to host Fulham this weekend (W2, D2) returning to Ashton Gate off the back of a thrilling 2-1 win against QPR last weekend.
Goalkeeper Bentley, who was appointed captain at the beginning of the season, told Robins TV: “One thing we’ve tried to install in the team this year is mentality. That’s whether we’re in a moment of negativity after conceding, body language after a goal or holding on to a lead but I think the mentality of the squad has been really good.
“Everyone knows their roles individually and as part of each unit in the team; that’s the XI and the subs. Togetherness has been really good, it’s grown and there are a lot of small details which are different, but certainly mentality has definitely shifted compared to last year.”
He added: “In the majority of games we’ve started well. We’ve taken the lead in a few games, we’ve taken chances and collectively we’ve defended well. At times we’ve had backs against the wall but we’ve defended resolutely as a team.”
Bristol City Members are reminded they can take advantage of £5 off their match ticket.
Saturday’s fixture is only available on Robins TV to overseas subscribers, as per EFL regulations, with coverage starting from 2.30pm.
Despite being reduced to 12 men in the closing stages of the match, England U20 held on to beat France 29-20 in round two of the Six Nations Summer Series.
