🎥 ‘I’m over the moon’ – Tanner

George Tanner was “very proud” to score his first club goal en route to a 3-2 win over Peterborough United.

The right-back was well-placed to tuck home a rebound after a shot from Chris Martin was blocked.

That put City 2-1 up before Sammie Szmodics hit his second goal of the day to put the Posh level at 2-2 come the break.

However, Martin would have the final say as he struck late with an 84th-minute winner at the Weston Homes Stadium.

“I’m over the moon,” Tanner told Robins TV. “It was a great game to watch, like pinball in the first half but we’re delighted to get the win and to get my first goal is a very proud moment.”

Tanner was pleased with how his team-mates weathered the Posh storm at times, as well as the heavy downpours.

He said: “They (Peterborough) are a good team who caused us a lot of problems, particularly how they overloaded down the sides but we defended well as a unit. We dug in and grabbed the winner so it was great.

“The lads are over the moon after a great win away from home.”

There are no matches next week due to the international break, which involves a handful of City’s players across the age groups.

The Robins will then host AFC Bournemouth in two weeks’ time, with tickets on sale now (October 16th, 3pm).
