‘I’m determined to come back stronger’ - Allen

Bristol City Women full-back Flo Allen is fighting her way back to full fitness after a prolonged period on the sidelines with a hip injury.

Allen joined City Women back in 2016 and has been involved in for first team for the last three seasons, but the Lionesses youth international has had to sit out the first half of the 2018/19 season with a hip injury.

The youngster believes whilst it has been a tough period in her short career it will help shape her as a player and she has vowed to come back stronger than before.

“Personally, it’s been a very frustrating start to the season and with it being my first long-term injury it did get to me to begin with”, she continued, “however, whilst I have been out injured it has still been a great environment to be involved in."

“Everyone at the club has been fantastic to me, especially our Sports Therapist, Chris Underwood - he’s really helped me throughout this period and we’ve been working hard to get me back to full fitness.

“Right the way through the club everyone has been supportive of me and the girls have been a huge help as well in encouraging and motivating me to get back.

“The performances the girls have been putting in on the pitch have also helped with the motivation. I want to be a part of what we’ve got going on at the moment so that is helping me to get back on to the pitch.

“It’s not nice to go through a long spell out, but this will stand me in good stead for the rest of my career, it will help shape me as player and I’m determined come back stronger than before

“It’s not nice to go through a long spell out, but this will stand me in good stead for the rest of my career, it will help shape me as player and I’m determined come back stronger than before.

“There is a great team morale amongst the group and I am determined to get back, add a different threat to the squad and provide more competition for places.”

Allen is now in the rehabilitation phase in her return from injury and Bristol City Women’s Sports Therapist, Chris Underwood believes the young full-back will be back involved in parts of training in the next two to three weeks.

“With Flo’s injury reoccurring over the first half of the season we have had be cautious with her return.

“She is back to running now and working her way back to being involved in training, if she progresses in the manner we hope then she will involved in the pitch based training session in the next two to three weeks.”
