Mark Little can’t wait to lock horns with an old foe when Bristol City take on West Brom at the Hawthorns tomorrow (3pm).
The former Wolves man came through the ranks at Molineux and played in the Black Country derby against the Baggies on multiple occasions.
Little has not faced West Brom since leaving his boyhood club, and is excited to play Albion without the added intensity of a rivalry.
“I’ve grown up hating them!” he joked to Bristol City Player HD.
"They were my rivals, my noisy neighbours for many years and it was a big derby back home.
"I have vivid memories of the derby - some really good and really bad ones!
"It will be nice to go there in a completely different situation as I’ve never played them for another club.
“It’ll be a game of football rather than a grudge match so it’ll be nice to go back there and to get the win would be even better."
Little has found opportunities hard to come by this season following his recovery from a dislocated shoulder sustained back in April.
The wing-back has started just four games in the Sky Bet Championship this campaign, and with Elliott Bennett joining Blackburn Rovers permanently, he sees it as an ideal chance to stake a claim for a permanent starting role.
He said: "Before this weekend there was always a fitter, better option and now by circumstance it looks like I might get my chance."
“I always want to help the team when I can and now Elliott’s gone, a slot is up for grabs and hopefully I’ll get a chance to show the boss I’m capable to do the shift."
With just a few days to go until Elton John plays at Ashton Gate, concert-goers are urged to take advantage of special event Shuttle Buses laid on to help get fans to and from the stadium.
