I couldn't have asked for a better debut - Kalas

Tomas Kalas played his part in a clean sheet as City beat Swansea City 1-0 on Saturday (August 25th).

Kalas, who signed on a season-long loan from Chelsea on Thursday, went straight into Lee Johnson's starting XI at the Liberty Stadium.

His team, not for the first time this season, bossed much of the game and Kalas looked settled and confident alongside his new teammates.

He even had a chance to extend the lead in the second half but saw an effort roll just wide.

"I would be asking for too much if I had scored as well," the centre back joked, as he spoke to bcfc.co.uk after the final whistle in South Wales.

"I couldn’t have asked for better having won, we got a clean sheet and Swansea are a tough opponent away. They were relegated from the Premier League but we know they have a good team but it couldn’t have gone any better.

"We concentrated on doing the basics which is what the head coach wants and we’ll get even better with each game.

"I had two training sessions but being one and two days before the game they were less intensive, more tactical and things like that so I haven’t had a proper session - maybe only half a session so that is maybe why my calves are gone!"

Kalas could now make his Ashton Gate bow in a week's time as City host Blackburn Rovers in the Sky Bet Championship.

And it's a prospect the defender is excited about.

He said: "Yes {I am looking forward to it], probably even more than this game because it will be at home, in front of our own fans.

"I will play more games there than here (Liberty Stadium) and I will need to get used to the pitch, the stadium but that will come quite quick and I am really looking forward to it."
