I Can't Wait For Sunday - Agard

Bristol City's Kieran Agard can’t wait to lift another trophy on Sunday.

The striker tasted success with Rotherham United in the Sky Bet League One play-offs last season and also held aloft the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in March.

Agard is now excited to get his hands on the League One trophy and winner’s medal after Sunday’s clash with Walsall at a sold out Ashton Gate.

“I’m excited for Sunday. The atmosphere is going to fantastic,” he told Bristol City Player.

“It’s amazing to lift a trophy on the back of all the hard work over the course of a season. All those memories stick with you.

“The management staff, the backroom team and players – we were all ambitious, we all wanted to win the title and we deserve it.”

Agard grabbed his 12th goal of the campaign in the 2-0 win at Chesterfield on Saturday, which extended the team’s unbeaten run to 15.

The striker said: “We’re grounded and we have the right attitude; we prepared right for it and got the result we deserved.

“The supporters were brilliant and it was a great atmosphere all round. I really enjoyed it out there.”

Of his goal, he recalled: “We pressed high and I just took the ball outside the box. I managed to skip past a few players and slot it.

“It was good team pressing and that’s something we aim to do. We don’t want to give opposition teams any time on the ball; everyone is tuned in for that.

“Perhaps I could have had a second goal at the end of the first half when Jay (Emmanuel-Thomas) played me in. I should have taken a touch but went for it first time; they can’t all go in.

“I’m happy with my goal tally (12) for the season. I could have more, but there’s still one more game to go. I’m just happy we’re winning."
