Hunt hails third clean sheet in a row

Jack Hunt captained City to a third successive clean sheet in a 0-0 draw with Watford at Ashton Gate.

Reflecting on the game, the right-back was pleased with the point as the team edge closer to their clean sheets target.

Hunt said: “We have to take the positives of a third clean sheet in a row which gives us a platform to try and win the game and we really put a lot of pressure in them in the second half.

“There wasn’t much in the game, they’re a team full of Premier League quality so we have to be happy with a 0-0 draw and the chances we created towards the end.

“When we conceded three against Norwich we were hurting. It’s something we take pride in, we have a target to get in the play-offs or the top two. We know the average clean sheets we need so we’re pushing for that and it gives us the platform to win games. To get three in a row puts us on track for our target for the season.”

 

The clean sheet might not have been but for Dan Bentley’s superb reflexes to deny Domingos Quina in the second half. City’s shotstopper had little to do before that moment but was alert when required, to help the Robins earn the point.

Hunt continued: “It was a fantastic save, it got us the point in the end because it’s a good strike, it was definitely going on. He’s been fantastic for us since signing for the club and long may that continue.”

Hunt took the captain’s armband for the midweek encounter, following an injury to Tomas Kalas (tight quad).

“Dean (Holden) pulled me in before the game and asked if I wanted to do it tonight,” Hunt said. “I was delighted he thinks so highly of me to captain the side and it’s nice to get a clean sheet wearing the armband on.”

City’s trip to the Madejski Stadium will again be live on Sky Sports this Saturday (November 28th, 12.30pm KO), meaning it will not be available to purchase or to Season Card holders on Robins TV.
