The Netherlands opened their World Cup qualifying campaign by beating Norway 1-0.
City Women defender Danique Kerkdijk was part of the 15 woman squad.
A goal in extra time from Vivianne Miedema was enough to get the three points for the Dutch, in a sold-out encounter in Groningen.
A potentially game changing moment came early on, when Norway’s captain Maren Mjelde was unable to convert her own penalty early on.
The Netherlands currently sit in third in Group three and play Slovakia next month.
Kerkdijk will return to Bristol ahead of Reading Women this Saturday (5.30pm kick-off), tickets are available here
Max Malins says he is ready and raring to go ahead of a potential return to action against Newcastle Falcons on Saturday (5pm KO, live on BT Sport 3 HD).
