Northern Ireland Under-21s secured a 1-0 victory over their Luxembourg counterparts in Thursday evening’s international friendly, courtesy of Rory Holden.
The City youngster scored the only goal of the contest in the 11th minute with a composed finish from inside the box, after QPR forward Paul Smyth intercepted a stray pass from the Luxembourg defence.
The Crusaders will now prepare for Tuesday’s (September 11th) Euro qualifier against unbeaten group leaders Spain in Albacete.
Northern Ireland, who have three games left to play, currently sit fourth in Group Two, level on points with Iceland and one behind second-placed Slovakia.
The four runners-up with the best records contest the play-offs.
