City have the chance to bounce back in their midweek encounter at home to Derby County, following Friday night’s slip to Birmingham City.
Dean Holden says he wants the players to “come out firing” at Ashton Gate, acknowledging the Rams visit to BS3 as a “big test” but one the Robins “are ready for.”
The Assistant Head Coach said: “The lads are really keen to get back out in front of our own fans and get us a good result on Wednesday night.
“It was a missed opportunity on Friday night, it was disappointing, but we have to move on quickly and that’s the beauty of the Championship. It’s a big test against Derby County who are a big team in this division. It’s a big test but we are ready for it.”
Derby’s away form has been questionable with just two league wins on the road all season but while Phillip Cocu’s side sit 13th, the Robins know they will have to play with confidence to make use of home advantage.
And the Robins continue to keep pressure on the play-off chasing pack, with a win on Wednesday presenting the chance to climb back into the top six.
Holden continued: “We’re competing at the top end of the table, that’s where we want to be. Of course, we could be higher but we’re in them mix and it’s about how we process these next few months in the season.
“There will be up and downs but for us it’s about staying focused on that next game and responding to a poor result against Birmingham and hopefully we’ll come out firing against Derby and get those three points.”
