Gordano School were unable to retain their EFL Sport+Kinder Girls Cup title on Sunday, losing on penalties to RBHS Sport.
Representing City, Gordano School played out a tense affair with Bolton Wanderers’ representatives, but were eventually beaten on penalties after neither side could break the deadlock in 90 minutes.
The contest was played at Wembley Stadium ahead of the Checkatrade Trophy final, won by Lincoln City.
More than 6,000 girls took part in the Under-13s six-a-side competition that was organised on behalf of the EFL and the EFL Trust, with the overriding aim to get more youngsters involved in physical activity and promote the importance of an active lifestyle.
Each of the 72 EFL clubs hosted a tournament for their local schools, with the winners earning the right to represent their club and wear their colours on the road to Wembley.
The local school reached the national stadium by triumphing in the preliminary round-robin tournament at South Bristol Sports Centre, before continuing their success in the regional and Southern Area finals.
The club would like to offer a huge congratulations to Gordano School on their progress in the competition.
