Abi Harrison has suffered a tear to the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee during an incident against Reading.
Harrison, who signed with City Women in the summer of 2018, will require surgery and rehabilitation which is expected to take the rest of this season.
City Women Manager Tanya Oxtoby said: “Abi has made an impact since joining us and is a popular member of the squad, both with her team-mates, staff and supporters.
“We are naturally disappointed for her as she has shown great signs of progression during the her time at City and we were excited about how much further she could develop this season.
“It was one of those incidents that occasionally happen where you know you see her go down after landing awkwardly under very little pressure and you know it’s not looking great”
“But Abi is a strong and positive person who will come back from this and as a group we are determined to be successful for her and ourselves.”
