Haaland signs for City Women

Bristol City Women is delighted to announce the signing of Norwegian goalkeeper, Benedicte Haaland.

Haaland joins the City Women ranks as Tanya Oxtoby’s seventh summer signing as the Robins gear up for their Barclays FA Women’s Super League opener against Everton Women.

The 22-year-old shot-stopper – who has represented Norway at Under-19 level - arrives in the West Country following the expiration of her deal with Swiss side, Lugano Femminile

“I’m really excited for a new challenge in my career and I’m grateful for the opportunity to join Bristol City Women,” said Haaland.

“The game is growing massively here in England and I’m excited to get to work with my new teammates.

“Sophie is a top goalkeeper and I’m looking forward to us working together and pushing each other to get better in training.”

“It’s fantastic to welcome Benedicte to Bristol City ahead of the new season,” said Oxtoby.

“She’s a young and exciting goalkeeper, who has represented Norway at youth level and I’m looking forward to seeing how she develops throughout the season whilst working with our new Head of Goalkeeping, Dan Smith.”
