Ashton Gate will host a unique sculpture this summer as part of Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal’s charity arts trail, Gromit Unleashed 2.
From July 2nd until September 2nd, 67 sculptures of Nick Park's Academy Award®-winning characters Wallace, Gromit and Feathers McGraw will hit the streets of Bristol and the surrounding area to raise money for Bristol Children’s Hospital.
Gromit Unleashed 2 is the third sculpture trail from The Grand Appeal in partnership with Aardman. Its two previous trails, Gromit Unleashed and Shaun in the City, raised over £6 million for Bristol Children’s Hospital helping the charity to fund pioneering, life-saving equipment and research, free family accommodation and support, music, arts and play programmes and much more.
The world-class surroundings of Ashton Gate Stadium – home to Bristol City and Bristol Bears – is included on the trail and open to members of the public for free.
Bristol Sport chairman Jon Lansdown said: “Gromit Unleashed 2 showcases Bristol’s reputation as an internationally renowned hub for creativity. We’re delighted to support The Grand Appeal and the fantastic Bristol Children’s Hospital, which treats more than 100,000 children each year and provides the best possible healthcare to young people across the region and beyond.”
Lauren Howard head of brand at The Grand Appeal said: “We are absolutely thrilled that we have such a fantastic array of international creative talent joining our trailblazers and local artists in Bristol this summer in aid of Bristol Children’s Hospital, and we look forward to sharing all our designs with visitors over the summer.
“At the end of the trail, the sculptures will be auctioned to raise money for The Grand Appeal to support Bristol Children’s Hospital, which treats more than 100,000 children each year from Bristol, the South West and beyond.”
