Groin surgery sidelines Djuric

Milan Djuric will spend at least two months on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on his groin injury today.

The Bosnian international forward went under the knife at the tail end of last season, but since playing for 45 minutes in Guernsey, Djuric has been absent with the problem.

Head coach Lee Johnson told BCTV: “Milan has had an operation to release his groin tendon.

“He’s a big lad and he’s had a recurring pain every time he strikes the ball.

“It was something that needed to be done. He’s had a couple of weeks recovering in Italy and he’ll work his socks off to get back in.

“The recovery time is somewhere between nine and 12 weeks.”

TAYLOR CLOSE TO A RETURN

With Djuric out, Matty Taylor also sidelined and Aaron Wilbraham now departed for Bolton Wanderers, City’s only striking option on the bench is young Freddie Hinds.

Johnson has already stated he is in the market for a forward, either permanently or on loan, but he also revealed Taylor is now closing in on a comeback.

“Matty isn’t far away now. He spent today with the physios and he’s getting there,” added the City boss.

“I’ve been really pleased with Freddie though. He’s now made his league debut (at Brentford) and it shows there is a pathway there for our young players.”
