Freeman Fit For Reading Trip

Luke Freeman has returned to training ahead of Saturday’s trip to Reading (3pm).

The winger has been sidelined by an ankle injury picked up in City’s last victory – the 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers on October 22nd.

But head coach Lee Johnson confirmed the 24-year-old is back in contention to feature this weekend.

“Luke Freeman trained for three quarters of the session on Tuesday and came through it fine, which was good,” the boss told Bristol City Player HD.

“We were really pleased with that because at one point that could’ve been a three-month injury.

Whether Freeman is deemed “match fit” enough to start the game remains to be seen.

Joel Ekstrand is City’s only major doubt for the visit to the Madejski Stadium.

“He had some fluid drained off his knee about ten days ago,” said Johnson of the Swedish defender.

“He came back and trained but then he stubbed his ankle taking free kicks. It blew up quite badly so that’s the only real danger for Saturday.

“We’ve got a couple of tiny little niggles, but I’m hopeful those boys will train today.”

More than 3,000 City fans will be at the Madejski Stadium – the club’s biggest away following of the season to date. Tickets remain available by calling 0117 963 0600 and online.
