Steve Cotterill is focusing on tonight’s game rather than Bristol City’s opportunity to extend the gap at the top of Sky Bet League One.
MK Dons are away to Colchester United this evening, but City’s other closest promotion rivals Swindon Town don’t play.
It means victory over Peterborough United at Ashton Gate (7.45pm kick-off) would move City at least seven points clear of the third-placed team.
However, Cotterill insisted: “We’ve got to look after our own performance first and foremost.
“We know that if we perform to our potential then we’ll stand a good chance of winning the game. We’ve won 18 times already in the league, so the statistics show we’ll more than likely win if we perform.
“We have to focus on our performance and make sure it’s right. It’s about us more than normal tonight.”
City were 3-0 victors over Peterborough United at the ABAX Stadium live on Sky earlier in the season.
It is widely regarded as the team’s best away performance of the campaign to date, but Cotterill warned: “That one is long gone now.
“Of course it was a good evening; we scored three good goals and could have had many more, and we kept a clean sheet as well.”
Aaron Wilbraham could come back into contention after recovering from an injection to remove fluid from his groin.
Bristol Bears can confirm all players and staff reported negative Covid-19 results in the latest round of testing at the Bears High Performance Centre (Tuesday, January 19th).
