Flint Makes A Splash With Goal Celebration

Aden Flint has revealed the secret behind his bizarre goal celebration against Peterborough United last night.

The big defender crashed the ball home after just nine minutes to kickstart City’s 2-0 win over the Posh, before diving to the ground in front of the Atyeo Stand.

He then mimicked swimming before having team-mates jump to the ground with him.

“I’m not the best swimmer. I’ve actually been having swimming lessons,” Flint told Bristol City Player.

“I thought my front crawl in the celebration was spot on though!”

Flint was just as pleased to notch his fifth goal of the campaign after being denied plenty of times in recent games.

“I was surprised the goalkeeper didn’t get his fingertips to it or that a defender didn’t get back to clear it from the line. That’s certainly been the way in recent weeks,” he added.

“I was happy to get on the scoresheet and help the lads to a win.

“It was a good win with a good clean sheet as well. The defeat on Saturday hurt us but we dusted ourselves down, trained hard and this win has made up for it a bit.

“The victory looked comfortable. We just had to stay switched on all game and go about our job correctly.

“When we start games well we’re always going to kick on. You start the game as you mean to go on.

“We could have had a few more goals than two really.

“Against Sheffield United we were 1-0 up at half-time and let it slip – we didn’t want that to happen again.

“It was good for Kieran to get the goal soon after half-time and then really we should have gone on to get three or four.

“We just need to keep going about our work, like we have done since the start of the season. Hopefully that’ll put us in good stead for the rest of the season. We can’t take our foot off the pedal now.”
