Aden Flint says he relishes playing in derby matches ahead of Bristol City’s trip to Cardiff City.
The defender has experienced the Bristol derby and the M4 derby against Swindon Town, but will take part in his first Severnside derby on Monday night (7.45pm).
The 26-year-old wasn’t aware of the rivalry between the two sides until City fans informed him at the start of the Sky Bet Championship campaign.
"Derby games are the ones you look forward to," he told Bristol City Player HD.
“Since I’ve been here I’ve heard fans speak about Cardiff and it was the first one they were looking for when the fixtures got released.
“There was a lot riding on the Swindon game last year. It was a great atmosphere that night and I’m sure the travelling City fans will get behind us on Monday and it’ll be even better.”
City will play their second match in ten days live on Sky Sports when they head to the Cardiff City Stadium.
With the match being moved from Saturday to Monday, it gives Steve Cotterill’s squad an extra couple of days to prepare for the fixture – something Flint welcomes.
“I’ll probably be watching Soccer Saturday with Jeff (Stelling) and the boys, which you don’t normally get!” he said.
"We’ll use the extra few days as rest, be fresh on Monday and come out the traps fast and start the game well."
