Aden Flint is refusing the play down the significance of the Boxing Day encounter with Charlton Athletic (kick-off 3pm).
Just two points separate the teams in the Sky Bet Championship, with Charlton currently in the bottom three and City in 20th.
The defender told Bristol City Player HD: "It's a six-pointer. We need to start beating teams around us and below us in the table. It would be great to do that on Boxing Day against Charlton.
"The QPR game was probably one of best performances of the season so we should take a lot of heart from that.
"The fans were brilliant against QPR. They could see we were playing well and were spurring us on. We didn't lose heart when the goal went in against the run of play and neither did the fans.”
City’s players will be in for training on Christmas Day morning in readiness for the Boxing Day clash.
"It's a normal day really, coming in to train in the morning,” added Flint.
"Since I turned professional I've never had a Christmas Day off, so it doesn't really bother me now.
"We'll be in early doors. It'll be a quick session then it'll be back to our families in the afternoon."
