Flint Excited To Face Hometown Club

Aden Flint is looking forward to returning home next season.

The 6ft 5in defender this week committed his future to Ashton Gate for the next four years after playing a starring role in City’s double-winning 2014/15 campaign.

But it is the trips to the leading lights in the East Midlands that have Flint’s pulse racing fastest as he prepares for a first crack at the Sky Bet Championship.

“I’ve not played there before (the Championship) so to go to bigger stadiums and test ourselves against bigger clubs – no disrespect to the teams we’ve faced for the last two seasons in League One – is a challenge I’m relishing,” he told Bristol City Player.

“Obviously I’ve been watching the play-offs and looking at who’s coming down from the Premier League.

“But being from Nottingham, I’m looking forward to going to Forest and Derby – those are the fixtures I’ll be looking out for.

“Hopefully we can have another season like the season we’ve just had. That would be fantastic.”

The 25-year-old, who joined room-mate Marlon Pack in signing a new deal, is looking forward to reuniting with his team-mates ahead of the new season.

“You have a couple of weeks of not wanting to think about football at all, but you do start to miss the lads and just being around the place in the daytime,” Flint continued.

“We’ve been given heart-rate monitors and GPS watches to keep track of us and record our sessions, so it’s not complete downtime.

“Me and Marlon just had a friendly game of tennis – a narrow win for Marlon even though I had him running all over the court!

“I’m delighted to sign my deal and to see Marlon do the same because we are good friends. It’s good to renew our contract as roomies for the next two years!”
