Flint Boosted By Consecutive Wins

Aden Flint hopes Bristol City’s first back-to-back victories of the season can be the launchpad towards securing safety in the Sky Bet Championship.

Following their first four wins of the season, City had been unable to back up the three-point haul with another victory to follow.

But that all changed on Saturday, when Lee Johnson steered the team to a 2-1 success over Ipswich Town in his first match in charge, seven days after the much-needed 1-0 win at Charlton Athletic.

Flint, who grabbed both goals against Ipswich, told Bristol City Player HD: “It’s massive that we’ve been able to get back-to-back wins.

“We’ve been looking for that all season, to back up our previous wins but unfortunately it’s not come.

“Now we’ve won two on the spin and the league table is already looking a lot better.

“Hopefully we can build on this further now when we go to MK Dons on Saturday. Three consecutive wins would make it all look a lot, lot better in the league.”

City are now five points clear of the drop zone thanks to Flint’s brace, which also saw Luke Freeman chalk up a pair of assists.

Last season Freeman provided a glut of goals for team-mates, including defender Flint en route to 15 goals for the campaign.

“It’s about time it happened again…we’ve been waiting all season!” added the 26-year-old of the Freeman-Flint combo. “It happened a hell of a lot last year and we’re always working on it.

“I’m always happy to get on the scoresheet. I could have scored a couple more but for a bit of persistent fouling in the second half.

“The first one was a little flick and it’s flown in off the far post. The second one has come off my shoulder, if I’m honest, but it’s a case of being in the right place at the right time.

“Of course I’m pleased to score, but the three points are the most important thing.”
