First team trio extend BS3 stay

City have exercised contract options to keep Bailey Wright, Callum O’Dowda and Matty Taylor until June 2020.

Wright joined City from Preston North End in January 2017 and took the captain’s armband for the start of the 2017/18 season, leading City to 11th in the Sky Bet Championship and to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.

He returned from injury on New Year’s Day this year, helping City to a clean sheet in a 2-0 win against Stoke City, before completing 90 minutes against Huddersfield Town in the 1-0 Emirates FA Cup Third Round victory.

Republic of Ireland international O’Dowda has made 24 appearances this season and has found the back of the net against the Potters and Norwich City.

Striker Taylor has netted eight times for the Robins, including two goals in his first three games for the club, strikes to help beat Stoke City and Crystal Palace in last season’s Carabao Cup run and his most recent against Bolton Wanderers last weekend.

City Head Coach Lee Johnson said: “To have three important players extend their stays here is brilliant news for the club.

“They are quality players and fantastic individuals who bring a lot to the pitch and dressing room. I’m looking forward to what the rest of the campaign brings and I know Bailey, Callum and Matty will play a big part in that.”
