Frank Fielding will rejoin the Bristol City squad on Thursday after flying home from the club’s pre-season tour in Portugal.
The goalkeeper did not feature in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Farense before returning to Bristol for treatment on a back injury.
But manager Steve Cotterill has confirmed his number one is feeling fit again after an injection.
“He’s going to be okay and he feels a lot better already,” the boss told Bristol City Player HD.
“It’s a nerve that goes down into his buttock from his back that he’s had injected because it flared up.
“But he’s had that done and hopefully he should be fine. Whether we play him in the game on Saturday or not, I’m not sure – I’ll have a chat with Frank about that.
“It’s one of those freak ones – he played nearly 60 games last season, so if it’s going to happen, it’s better that it happens in pre-season than any other time.”
Meanwhile, midfielder Scott Wagstaff will be assessed after suffering a recurrence of a hamstring strain against Braga tonight.
New signing Jonathan Kodjia will join up with his City team-mates for the first time tomorrow before training with them on Thursday.
