Fielding Signs Contract Extension

Frank Fielding has signed a contract extension to remain a Bristol City player until 2018.

The goalkeeper, who played a huge part in the club’s double-winning season, has put pen to paper on a new three-year deal at Ashton Gate.

City boss Steve Cotterill told bcfc.co.uk: “I am delighted Frankie has signed his new deal and it is thoroughly deserved.

“He was in terrific form last year, featuring in every minute of every game.

“It couldn’t happen to a nicer member of the squad. He gives everything on a daily basis and is a fantastic professional.”

Fielding, 27, started his career with hometown club Blackburn Rovers, featuring in the England senior squad as well as winning 12 Under-21 caps in his time at Ewood Park.

After a number of loan spells away from Blackburn, he left the club permanently to join Derby County in 2011 before signing for City two years later.

Having enjoyed a successful run in the side towards the end of the 2013/14 campaign, Fielding was Steve Cotterill’s undisputed number one as an ever present in all competitions last term.
