Bristol City Women star Olivia Fergusson is taking on the Yorkshire three peaks challenge this weekend to raise vital funds for Fiji.
Fergusson along with three others in her group will be attempting to scale the mountains of Whernside (736 m or 2,415 ft), Ingleborough (723 m or 2,372 ft) and Pen-y-ghent (694 m or 2,277 ft) which form the Pennines in Yorkshire, in less than 12 hours.
The challenge will see vital funds raised for the Fiji Children's Emergency Appeal, following the strongest storm ever recorded in the Southern Hemisphere - the category 5 tropical cyclone Winston flattened entire villages in a matter of moments in Fiji.
Fergusson joined the Vixens earlier in the year following a spell at Aston Villa, and the forward has appeared from the bench in both of her side’s WSL 2 games so far this season.
On the challenge, Fergusson said: “I’m looking forward to the challenge, and we’re all confident of finishing in the twelve hour time frame.
“We’re hoping to raise some funds and awareness for the problems faced by the local communities in Fiji, which have been devastated by the recent cyclone. A huge number of Fijian nationals currently serve in the British Army and we are looking to give something back to help them and their families following this natural disaster.”
