Joe Williams is relishing the chance for City take on AFC Bournemouth in front of a busy Ashton Gate Stadium this Saturday (October 16th, 3pm).
The midfielder is urging the crowd to play an important role in the Sky Bet Championship match, as City host the league leaders heading into the latest round of fixtures.
The Cherries are unbeaten in the Championship so far this season but it adds to the occasion as Williams looks to get back out on the pitch following the October international break.
“They’re going to have to be beaten someday, so we’ll be hoping to be the team that does that,” Williams told Robins TV.
“We know how good they are but we know how good we can be. We have shown our threats against every team, I’m looking forward to it but we focus on ourselves as much as anything.”
At the time of writing, City are set to play in front of a near 20,000-strong crowd – tickets remain on sale here.
“I’ve been itching to play in front of the supporters,” Williams continued, as he edges back to fitness and form in his bid to become a regular in Nigel Pearson’s midfield. “Even in the warm-up against Peterborough they were singing non-stop. If they can be that 12th man for us and push us on, like in that 30 minutes against Fulham they pushed us on, and we will try to give them all the encouragement to do that.”
Sixteen players have committed their futures to the club as plans continue for the 2022/23 campaign.
