Georgia Evans singled out team-mate Caitlin Leach for praise following Bristol City Women’s goalless draw against Durham.
Goalkeeper Leach made some key stops in the tie, tipping over Emily Roberts’ powerful drive in the first half before acrobatically saving Beth Hepple’s effort to ensure the Vixens kept a clean sheet.
The draw at New Ferens Park leaves City two points behind league leaders Yeovil Town and Evans feels Leach’s heroics have helped in the club’s desire for promotion.
"Caitlin was fantastic for us,” the midfielder said.
“She made some key saves which were important if we were to get something from the match.
“We worked hard and wanted to get three points from this game, so we’re disappointed not to win but it’s better to come away with a point than nothing at all.”
She added: “Every single game is like a cup final now. We’re looking forward to next week and the aim is to go and get three points at home (against London Bees).
“We want promotion, we want to win the league but we’ll take it one game at a time.”
City are next in action against London Bees on Saturday, July 23rd (6pm). Tickets can be purchased here.
Entry is free to City season card holders.
