Elliott departs from role with City Women

Head of Goalkeeping Tony Elliott will step down from his role this summer, the club can confirm.

The former football league ‘keeper who plied his trade at Huddersfield Town, Cardiff City, Carlisle and Scarborough arrived in the summer of 2019 from fellow Barclays FAWSL side, Birmingham City Women.

Throughout the 2019/20 season Elliott worked closely with Sophie Baggaley and Eartha Cumings at first team level, as well as the club’s Academy and RTC level goalkeepers.

“Firstly, I would like to thank Tanya for the opportunity to come on board at the start of the 2019/20 season, as well as the players and staff for being so welcoming, said Elliott.

“This is a decision that I have not taken lightly, but ultimately family comes first and that has been impacted by the volume of travelling I was doing this season between Birmingham and Bristol.

“It’s been a challenging year for all at the club with plenty of ups and downs, but I enjoyed coming into work everyday and working with a great set of players and staff.”

Tanya Oxtoby said: “I would like to thank Tony for all of his hard work throughout this year.

“Whilst we are sad to see Tony leave, we also understand the travel commitments he has endured this year, and that family comes first, so we wish him all the best for his future endeavours.”

Everyone at Bristol City Women wishes Tony the best of luck in his next challenge.
