Niclas Eliasson heads into Friday’s Emirates FA Cup tie with Bolton Wanderers relishing the competition for places in the City squad.
The Swedish winger is battling with the likes of Callum O’Dowda, Jamie Paterson and Andi Weimann for a starting spot as the North West club visit Ashton Gate in the fourth round.
Eliasson has developed into a key member of Lee Johnson’s squad, starting 20 games this season, including the 1-0 Third Round win over Huddersfield Town, as well as five appearances off the bench.
“I feel that I have developed a lot since I moved to England and especially this season,” said the 23-year-old.
“I’ve played quite a few games this season and it’s tough competition in the team. That’s good because every player has to work hard in training every day to get better and do their best for the team to win.
“It’s very important that everyone is trying to do what’s best for the team to get the best results.
"Of course you always want to start and to play games but if everyone has the mindset that they want to do their best if they come on for 20 minutes or if they are starting then that is going to help the team get the three points or the cup win.”
Eliasson is a fan of the famous knockout tournament saying: “The FA Cup is great. We’ve had some tough games in the league but it’s important that we can handle the league and the FA Cup at the same time.
"Playing at Ashton Gate on Friday night will be great. We have been on a good run recently and hopefully we can keep that going with another win.”
Tickets remain on general sale for the Fourth Round contest (January 25th, 7.45pm KO) and can be secured here.
