Edwards secures new contract

Opi Edwards’ hard work has been rewarded with a new two-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months.

The 20-year-old winger was part of Lee Johnson’s pre-season squad in Florida where he impressed the head coach during a demanding training period.

Edwards was handed minutes against Sarasota Metropolis and AFC Wimbledon, and the first team experience will be a big boost of confidence as he heads out on loan to newly promoted Torquay United for the first half of the 2019/20 season.

Midfielder Connor Lemonheigh-Evans also joins Edwards at the Gulls, with both loans set to expire in January.

Edwards and Lemonheigh-Evans both made their City debuts in the Emirates FA Cup against Watford in January 2018.
