Keith Downing and Paul Simpson have left Bristol City by mutual agreement.
Downing and Simpson arrived from the Football Association in August 2020 as part of a specific structure to support then newly-appointed Head Coach Dean Holden.
Both continued to work tirelessly within a structure that has evolved since the arrival of Nigel Pearson as interim manager in February this year.
City CEO Richard Gould said: “We are very grateful for the contribution Paul and Keith have made. They have been professional and hard-working during a period of change. The club has evolved its structure during the last 12 months and the responsibilities they were recruited for have changed to the point where both parties recognised the need for a mutual agreement to part company.”
Paul Simpson said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Bristol City and want to thank the Lansdown family for giving me the opportunity to work at this fantastic club. I’d like to thank the players and staff who I have worked with and the supporters for their patience through what has been a difficult 14 months on and off the field. Throughout my time at the club I’ve given my all and now hopefully this change can lead to a happy, healthy future for everyone.”
Keith Downing said: “I would like to thank the Lansdowns for the opportunity to have worked at this special club. It’s been a privilege to have worked alongside such diligent staff and players over the last 14 months. I wish the club the very best in all future endeavours and thank the fans for their invaluable support throughout my time here.”
The club is not currently recruiting for replacements.
