Lee Johnson admits he is concerned by Milan Djuric’s latest groin complaint.
The Bosnian striker was ruled out of the Community Match at Bristol Manor Farm through injury, having played 45 minutes in the pre-season friendly in Guernsey a day earlier.
City’s head coach confirmed after the 11-0 win at The Creek that Djuric had been left out as a precautionary measure.
Johnson told BCTV: “Towards the end of last season Milan had a bit of an issue with his groin.
“He just felt it again (after the Guernsey game), so it was precautionary that we didn’t play him at Manor Farm.
“We are a little worried about it and we’ll have to send him to the specialist, just because it’s an underlying problem and not a unique one.”
Djuric joined the club from Italian Serie B side Cesena in January and has made 11 appearances.
His only goal to date was a crucial one, earning City all three points in a home clash with Rotherham United in February.
A double hernia operation cost Djuric a month’s action in March and the giant forward will be hoping this latest injury isn’t as serious.
