Defensive duo to return for Cheltenham test

Lee Johnson has confirmed that Aden Flint and Hordur Magnusson will start City’s penultimate pre-season friendly at Cheltenham Town tomorrow night (7.45pm).

The head coach opted to partner Jens Hegeler and Bailey Wright at the heart of City’s defence during the 6-0 win over Atlético Unión Güimar on Saturday, declaring the pair had a greater need for minutes.

However, supporters can expect to see Magnusson and Flint return to the action at Whaddon Road, when City make the trip up the M5 to face Gary Johnson’s Cheltenham Town, just 24 hours after returning from Tenerife.

“Both Aden and Hordur will start against Cheltenham,” Johnson exclusively told BCTV.

“I think the centre-half load is a little bit less than everywhere else on the pitch so it was good to get Bailey as many minutes as possible, while Jens pulled out of the Yeovil game in the warm-up so it was pleasing to get him the 90 minutes.

“The four centre-halves we have are all in good nick and Hordur and Flinty will start against Cheltenham, and hopefully play the full game.”

The match at Whaddon Road is pay on the night for supporters. Tickets are priced at: Adults £10, Senior Citizens/Under-16s - £5.
