Diego De Girolamo has penned a new contract at Ashton Gate.
The 21-year-old recently joined Cheltenham Town on loan for the remainder of the season, where he has already scored four goals in two appearances.
De Girolamo’s City deal was due to expire in the summer, but he has now put pen to paper on a contract until 2018, with the option of a further year.
Head coach Lee Johnson said: “We’ve been delighted with Diego since he signed from Sheffield United in the summer.
“He’s got undoubted ability and talent. He’s been very professional and produced some great performances for the Under-23s.
“Since he’s been with Cheltenham he’s done brilliantly and hopefully that will continue. It’s what we want for our younger players – to be playing regularly and ready to go when they come back to Ashton Gate.”
The Italian youth international has made just one first team appearance to date.
