Diego De Girolamo has joined Chesterfield on loan for the duration of the 2017/18 campaign.
The 21-year-old will link up with his hometown club ahead of Saturday’s home game with Coventry City in Sky Bet League Two.
De Girolamo bagged a hat-trick in the Under-23s’ latest Professional Development League encounter with Burnley at Ashton Gate and will be hoping to continue his fine form at the Proact Stadium.
Brian Tinnion, the club’s loans manager and club ambassador, told bcfc.co.uk: “This season-long loan will give Diego the chance to go out and get games under his belt – and hopefully some goals in league football too.”
De Girolamo joined the club in the summer of 2016 after his contract expired at Sheffield United.
He made his debut in last season’s EFL Cup win at Scunthorpe United, before spending time on loan at Cheltenham Town.
The club does have the option to recall the attacker in January.
