Curtis Fleming to link-up with the Robins

Bristol City can confirm Curtis Fleming has joined the first-team coaching set-up on a short-term basis.

Fleming - an Irish coach and former player - arrives at Ashton Gate on a three-month contract to cover the absence of Paul Simpson who is currently taking time out from his coaching role to have treatment for renal cell carcinoma.

Under-23s coach Alex Ball has supported the first-team coaching staff in the interim, but he will now return to the Academy set-up as their programme returns.

Speaking on Fleming’s appointment, Nigel Pearson said: “I’m really pleased Curtis has agreed to join us. He is a fantastic coach and will work well in our environment, with the group of players we have.

“I’d like to pass my thanks on to Alex Ball for his time with us. He has been brilliant to work so closely with and he is a fantastic coach who has assisted our preparations for the new campaign.

“Now the Under-23s are back and preparing for their season, he has to return to the Academy to pick up his work, but I envisage us continuing to work closely at the High Performance Centre.”

Fleming has worked at the likes of Crystal Palace, QPR and Middlesbrough previously, but has most recently managed I-League club Punjab FC.
