Joe Bryan believes he is benefiting from a sustained run in the left-back position.
The Bristolian has been used in a variety of roles this season, from left wing to central midfield to wing-back.
But City have been defensively more secure in recent weeks, conceding only one goal in their last three games, with Bryan becoming a key member of the backline.
“Because I’m naturally attacking, I’m always going to take time to adapt to it,” he told Bristol City Player HD.
“I’ve been switching between three positions and haven’t really nailed one down all season, but I’m enjoying it at left-back at the moment.
“Consistency always helps. It allows you to focus, look back at your games and say to yourself ‘I need to make sure I don’t do that again’ or ‘I need to do more of what I did there’, rather than wondering if you’re going to play in that position the following week.
“Like I’ve always said, I might make mistakes but I’ll always do my best wherever I play.”
Bryan was quick to praise opponents Huddersfield Town, who are only six points off top spot with a game in hand ahead of tonight’s visit to Ashton Gate (7.45pm).
“They’re one of the best, if not the best footballing team in the division,” he added.
“When we went up there earlier in the season they were very good, so it’s definitely one we’ll look forward to but will be a very tough game.
“Even though we only got a point against Norwich, I think the fans acknowledged the effort, team spirit and football that we played.
“It gives you a lift and you definitely notice it when they’re behind you.”
