Sports Business and Entrepreneurship students at the Bristol City Community Trust have returned from their five day educational trip to Bilbao and Mondragon University.
The Trust’s Sports Business and Entrepreneurship programme (in association with UWE) is a unique course inspired by a Finish education programme called Team Academy. This uses Socratic methods of inquiry-based study which challenges students to engage in a new way of learning. Students on the course learn by doing and engage in a practice-led environment, where they are coached in teams and work together on projects.
Bristol City Community Trust launched this unique degree in 2017 and is continuously learning from other institutes. Mondragon University launched their Team Academy course over 10 years ago and 14 students and two staff members visited this institute to learn from their practices and processes.
Whilst over in Bilbao, students were lucky enough to work with the WATS team - an organisation formed with the goal of eradicating violence in sport. Community Trust Staff and students spent two days with the WATS team and were lucky enough to take part in multiple project workshops and team sessions with the organisation.
Programme Leader at the Trust, Polly Wardle, said: “The WATS team have been fantastic! The workshops that they have put on have been incredibly thought provoking for our students. Their growth mindset is evident to see and it’s been an inspiring visit for both staff and students.
“I would like to thank Alex, Antonio and Lander for being so accommodating. We look forward to welcoming the WATS team to Bristol at the start of the next academic year to engage with new students and coaches.”
This innovative course ensures students are confident, highly motivated, employable and resilient. It gives students valuable sports business skills and industry contacts, so they can hit the ground running in their career.
You can apply for this course through UCAS now, or for more information on the course, please contact the Trust on 0117 963 0636 to book on to an education open evening.
