With two goals and five assists in all competitions it’s been a bright start for City’s young Antoine Semenyo.
He has made 14 appearances to this point, 11 of those at Sky Bet Championship level with the Robins pushing at the top end of the table as they come out of the November international break.
The 20-year-old striker said belief has been a key component to his game this season as he eyes a busy schedule ahead, starting with the visit of Derby County to Ashton Gate on Saturday (November 21st, 3pm KO).
Semenyo said: “The coach believing in me is a big thing, whether that’s me coming off the bench or starting and that gives me the confidence to drive on and play my game. With the backing of the coaching staff it brings that confidence out of you, it brings your game out. That confidence in ourselves is perfect and it helps us go a long way.”
Semenyo has also revealed how his teammates have played a key role in his development.
“They’re helping me a lot, with little finer details to my game: Taking fewer touches, going at players with a little more pace, just those little details have helped me a lot. It’s not just me but the other younger players coming through as well, so they’re really good.”
The striker can now look forward to the Rams visiting BS3 tomorrow. Whether or not he will be in the matchday squad remains to be seen, but he will be hoping to strike his first league goal for the Robins should he get the chance. His goals thus far both came in the Carabao Cup.
Looking forward to the test against Derby – who have managed just one win this season – Semenyo said: “It’s still a big challenge even though they aren’t doing too well. We have to take every game as it comes, we can’t let off because they’re bottom of the table. We play as though they are top of the table and we want to win the game.”
He added: “Those two results (2-1 win v Huddersfield, 1-0 win v Cardiff City) before the break were big for us, now we have to back them up with another win on Saturday.”
City’s Championship fixture against the Rams will be streamed exclusively on Robins TV, with matchday passes now available. The show, with Rene Gilmartin commentating, starts at 2.30pm, with live commentary, analysis, multi-camera angles and replays included.
