Highly sought after Claire Emslie pens new deal with the Vixens.
Head Coach Willie Kirk was reunited with former Hibernian FC player Claire Emslie when she joined Bristol City Women in June last year from Florida Atlantic University.
The Scottish born player has shown great promise from a young age representing her national team at U15, U17 and U19 level as well as the senior squad in 2013 and against this year in the Women’s International Challenge matches in Cyprus.
Emslie started her football career in Edinburgh with Hibernian FC where she played under Willie Kirk.
“Re-signing Claire is huge for the club”
During her short time with City Women she quickly become a fan favourite and goal-scoring machine, adding ten to the Vixen’s tally also picked up the ‘Sponsor’s Player Award’ at the end of last season for her contribution.
“She arrived mid-season, and had an incredible impact. It was exactly what we needed at the time, as her intensity and will to win in training allowed us to raise our levels and secure promotion," added Kirk.
“She won the WSL Goal of the Season for her first, away to Everton, but arguably her second goal that evening was even better.
“As I expected, there was a lot of interest in her over the last couple of months and we have done very well to get her commitment for the Spring Series.
“Her decision tells you so much about her as a person though, and it’s great to know that the Bristol fans will see her wear the red of the Vixens again."
Now in WSL1, Bristol City Women will open their campaign against Reading at Ashton Gate on Saturday, April 22nd (KO 6pm) before taking on Arsenal, Chelsea and current league Champions Man City at the Stoke Gifford Stadium.
The Vixens will also come up against former teammates when they face Liverpool at home, with Sophie Ingle, Tash Harding and Caroline Weir now playing for the opposition.
Tickets will be available for all games online via Tickets.Bristol-Sport.co.uk shortly with season cards also on sale in the next few weeks.
