City Women International Watch: November

Find out how City Women's international stars fared over the break.

ABI HARRISON

Harrison marked her return to the Scotland setup with a place in the starting XI in both FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Ukraine and Spain, as well as scoring her first international goal.

Harrison’s netted a dramatic first international goal in front of a lively home crowd at Hampden Park last Friday night (November 26th) against Ukraine to snatch a valuable point for Pedro Martinez Losa’s side.

Roksolana Kravchuk had put Ukraine ahead in the first half but Harrison’s last-gasp glancing header ensure the Scots would not leave empty handed.

Their second qualifier saw Scotland travel to Seville on Tuesday (November 30th) to take on unbeaten Spain, with Harrison once again named in the starting lineup and playing 45 minutes. However, the hosts would prove too strong for Scotland, running out 8-0 winners on home soil.

FFION MORGAN

Morgan was an unused substitute in Wales’ emphatic 5-0 home victory against Greece at a snowy Parc y Scarlets.

Goals from Sophie Ingles, Kayleigh Green, Ceri Holland and Natasha Harding ensured Wales carried on their FIFA World Cup qualifying momentum.

Wales then travelled to Brittany on Tuesday (November 30th) to take France, who sat top of their qualifying group. Kadidiatou Diani handed the hosts the lead on the cusp of half-time, with Morgan introduced in the 68th minute by Gemma Grainger in an attempt to grab an equaliser.

In Wales’ efforts to push for an avenue back into the game they were caught on the counter late on as Selma Bacha’s 90th minute strike sealed victory for the French.

FRAN BENTLEY

Bentley was introduced at half-time in England Under-23s 11-0 thrashing of Estonia at St George’s Park on Tuesday (November 30th).

Missy Bo Kearns and Ruby Grant both grabbed hat-tricks, Taylor Hinds bagged a brace as well as Emma Harries, Gabrielle George and Katie Robinson all finding the back of the net.

BROOKE ASPIN & NAOMI LAYZELL

City’s young defensive duo travelled to Portugal with the England Development squad to face Norway and the Netherlands in the Algarve Cup.

The Young Lionesses came from three goals down to beat Norway 4-3 last Wednesday (November 24th) before losing 1-0 to the Netherlands on Monday (November 29th).
