Bristol City Women’s Ella Rutherford and new signing Ebony Salmon get their U19 European Championship finals campaign underway with the Young Lionesses later today.
The Under-19 Lionesses reached the last eight of the competition after progressing through the elite qualifying round in April and will now face Germany, Spain and Belgium in their group games.
City Women full-back, Poppy Pattinson played a pivotal role in the qualification campaign with the U19s, but unfortunately she has missed out on the finals due to injury.
Head Coach Rehanne Skinner has selected a 20-player squad for the trip as England continue to strive for consistent tournament successes across the youth pathway.
The tournament comprises eight teams in two groups of four, with the top two progressing into the semi-finals, the winner of Group A plays the runner-up of Group B and vice versa.
Progress into the knockout stages of the competition will act as UEFA's qualifier for the 2020 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup.
