Bristol City Women can confirm that Carla Humphrey and Sophie Baggaley have returned positive Covid-19 test results and will begin a 10-day isolation period as per Public Health England guidance.
Following this week’s round of testing, both returned positive results on Wednesday morning and will be unavailable for the Robins’ FA Continental Cup quarter-final clash with Aston Villa this evening.
Jemma Purfield will also begin a 10-day self-isolation period after being identified as a close contact of Humphrey and Baggaley.
The trio will also be unavailable for Bristol City Women’s trip to face Everton in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League on Sunday, January 17th.
The club can confirm that both players who tested positive had been following the strict government guidelines and club protocols in place, and since returning to training had twice tested negative prior to this week.
The Robins are able to field the required 14-player matchday squad quota and at this stage will fulfil their fixtures with Villa and Everton.
Everyone at the club wishes Carla and Sophie a full recovery and we hope to see them back on the pitch soon.
